What is WILD GOD?
WILD GOD is a multi-day, Christ-centered gathering rooted in Scripture, worship, community, and experiential learning in the outdoors.

Creek Stewart
Instructor Bio:
Creek is a wilderness survival instructor, author, and television host. He and his wife Sarah have two kids, River & Lakelyn.
Workshop Title: FOCUS ON THE SON: SOLAR FIRE MASTERY
There’s enough energy in sunlight to start a fire—but only when that energy is focused.
In this hands-on workshop, survival instructor Creek Stewart will teach you how to use a credit-card-sized pocket magnifying lens to harness the power of the sun and ignite fire. You’ll learn proper solar fire-starting technique, how to find and maintain the perfect focal point, and which natural and modern tinder materials give you the best chance of turning concentrated sunlight into flame.
Then you’ll put those skills to the test and attempt to create fire using nothing but tinder, a lens, and the sun.
But there’s a powerful spiritual lesson hidden inside this survival skill.
Move the lens even slightly out of alignment and the concentrated point of light begins to spread. The heat diminishes. Eventually, ignition becomes impossible.
Our faith can be much the same.
When our attention becomes scattered among the worries, distractions, temptations, and priorities of this world, our faith can begin to waver. But when we intentionally bring our focus back to Jesus, everything changes.
You’ll leave this workshop with another powerful way to create fire in the wild—and a reminder to keep your eyes fixed on the Son.

Sarah Stewart
Instructor Bio:
Sarah is an award-winning artist and graphic designer with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ball State University. She finds joy in sharing her passion for creativity and the beauty of creation with others, inspiring them to see the world through a fresh, artistic lens.
Workshop Title: FLOWER PRESSING: PRESERVING GOD’S CREATION
There is incredible beauty and detail in even the smallest parts of God’s creation—and sometimes slowing down long enough to notice it can become an act of worship.
In this hands-on workshop, Sarah Stewart will teach participants how to gather, prepare, and press fall leaves, wildflowers, and other natural materials using their very own WILD GOD Flower Press.
You’ll learn simple techniques for selecting and preserving specimens, then use pressed botanicals to create a beautiful bookmark and wall hanging to take home.
More than just a creative project, this workshop is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the extraordinary creativity of our Creator reflected throughout the natural world.
You’ll leave with your own WILD GOD Flower Press, handmade keepsakes, and a new reason to pay attention to the beauty God has placed all around us.

Eric Nowlen
Instructor Bio:
Eric is a wilderness survival instructor, homesteader, and the owner of Patriot Self Reliance, as well as co-owner of Naughty Dog Farm in West Virginia. Raised hunting, fishing, and camping in Mississippi, his love for the outdoors was shaped early and deepened through years of military service, where he taught backpacking, orienteering, rappelling, and climbing to both youth and soldiers.
An educator at heart, Eric now teaches survival, bushcraft, and homesteading skills across the country while stewarding his homestead and rescuing dogs. At WILD GOD, Eric brings a passion for hands-on learning, mentorship, and helping others grow in self-reliance, wisdom, and connection—both to the land and to the Creator who provides through it.
Workshop Title: PONCHO SHELTER BUILDING: Finding Refuge in the Most High
In a survival situation, protection from the elements can quickly become one of your highest priorities. In this hands-on workshop, survival instructor Eric will teach you how to transform a simple military-style poncho into an effective emergency shelter using basic materials and proven wilderness techniques.
You'll learn how to choose a safe shelter location, protect yourself from heat and cold, establish a ridgeline, secure your shelter with essential knots, and even construct a freestanding shelter when there are no trees available. Then, working in small teams, you'll put those skills into practice by building a functional poncho shelter yourself.
But shelter is more than a survival priority.
Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly describes Himself as our shelter, refuge, fortress, shield, and covering. Psalm 91 paints the beautiful picture of those who dwell in the shelter of the Most High finding rest beneath the shadow of the Almighty.
You'll leave this workshop with practical skills for finding shelter in the wild—and a powerful reminder of where our ultimate refuge is found.

Workshop Title: Wildflower Impressions: Nature's Art on Fabric
God's creation is filled with incredible beauty—even in the petals and leaves we often walk right past. In this hands-on workshop, Abby Steinhilber will teach you the art of flower pounding, a unique technique that transfers the natural colors and patterns of fresh flowers and foliage directly onto fabric. Using a white bandana as your canvas, you'll create a beautiful one-of-a-kind keepsake to take home—a lasting reminder of the creativity of our Creator and the wonder woven throughout His creation. No artistic experience is necessary—just come ready to slow down, create, and discover beauty hidden in the wild.

CROWNED: A Celebration of God-Given Beauty
Led by Sarah Stewart and Storm
CROWNED is a special gathering created just for the women of WILD GOD—a time to slow down, encourage one another, and celebrate beauty through the eyes of the One who created us.
Sarah and Storm will begin with a short, heartfelt message about identity, worth, and learning to see ourselves as God sees us—not through comparison, age, appearance, or the expectations of the world, but as women who are deeply known, wonderfully made, and dearly loved.
Afterward, each woman will create her own fresh flower crown using a handcrafted braided leather headband and an assortment of beautiful seasonal flowers. More than a craft, the crown will serve as a personal reminder:
I am seen.
I am loved.
I am beautifully made by God.
The women will then wear their crowns to dinner, creating a beautiful and visible expression of sisterhood, joy, and shared identity in Christ.
This workshop is designed to be a meaningful moment of women gathering together—laughing, creating, encouraging one another, and reminding each other of the beauty and value God has placed within every woman.
“The King’s daughter is all glorious within.”
—Psalm 45:13
Each participant will leave with her flower crown, her braided leather headband, and, we hope, a renewed understanding that her truest beauty begins with who she is in God’s eyes.
-

Joel Bussell
Instructor Bio:
Joel Bussell is a teacher, missionary, pastor, and coach with 15 years of experience helping people become fully alive with God- mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. At Wild God, Joel brings a special focus on helping fathers equip their sons to find their place in God’s story and to be prepared for their journey to manhood.
Joel’s journey to manhood began in the wilderness, and that is where he now spends time with his son, helping him take the same journey. While masculinity can take many forms, Joel believes the wilderness is the premier place for fathers to connect with their sons. It is in the wild that the wonder of God and physical challenges awaken a boy’s heart and initiate him into manhood.
Joel lives in Indianapolis, where he enjoys riding his bike to work, a good book, and morning walks in the woods. He is married to Shelbe, whom he treasures, and is privileged to be called “Dad” by Graham and Joy.
Workshop Title: “Wayfinding- Equipping our sons for the Masculine Journey.”
Every dad wants his son to go further than he did, but we often feel lost as we try to pass on wisdom we never received. We get discouraged and give up. But if you have the privilege of being called “Dad,” you have the opportunity to be part of a miraculous transformation, helping your son become a man. And no matter how hard it is, you do not want to miss it.
In the Wayfinding workshop, father and fellow traveler Joel Bussell will equip dads with a Fatherhood map and a compass to help them initiate their boys and prepare them for the adventure God has for them.
In this workshop, Joel will explore the 6 stages of the masculine journey and God’s good purpose for each. But the journey is neither simple nor easy, and if we are not careful, we will lose our way. Therefore, Joel will also expose the dark side of each stage and how it manifests in a man, either passively or aggressively, to our demise.
By the end, you will be better able to come alongside your son, whatever his stage, and equip him to recognize when he has gone “off-trail” and how to get back on the path.

Timber Cleghorn
Instructor Bio:
Timber Cleghorn brings a lifetime of real-world survival experience and a deep love for teaching into every workshop he leads.
He grew up off-grid in the remote woods of southern Indiana, where survival wasn’t something you practiced—it was simply how you lived. Without modern conveniences, Timber developed a resourceful spirit, resilient mindset, and a deep understanding of the natural world from an early age.
After completing an intensive linguistics program, Timber spent years living overseas throughout Asia, working on linguistic research projects among some of the world’s most remote and isolated cultures. During this time, he gained a profound appreciation for ancestral knowledge, subsistence living, and survival practices passed down through generations.
Timber later brought these skills to a national audience as a participant on the hit television series Alone, where he demonstrated grit, endurance, and practical wilderness skills in one of the toughest survival challenges in the world.
Today, Timber is a survivalist, hunter, bushcrafter, and teacher who is passionate about equipping others with practical skills and a deeper connection to both creation and Creator. Above all, he is a husband, father, and follower of Jesus.
Whether he’s teaching in the woods, helping those in need, or sharing a meal with friends, Timber brings authenticity, wisdom, and a contagious love for life to everything he does.
Workshop Title:
Workshop Title: ARCTIC SNARES: Survival Trapping with Timber Cleghorn
In this hands-on workshop, Alone survivalist Timber Cleghorn will teach the same rabbit snaring techniques he used to secure food during his 80+ days surviving more than 100 miles north of the Arctic Circle.
Drawing from a lifetime of real-world wilderness experience, Timber will walk participants through the details that can make the difference between an empty snare and a meal. You’ll learn how to construct, position, set, and adjust a survival snare while gaining insight into animal movement, trail selection, trigger placement, and the small details that matter when trapping for survival.
Best of all, this isn’t just a demonstration.
Each participant will build a handful of their own survival rabbit snares and pack them into a pocket-sized container to create a personal Pocket Survival Snaring Kit to take home.
Timber will also demonstrate several additional primitive trapping systems, including spring-pole snares and various deadfall traps, explaining how these systems work and the wilderness principles behind them.
YOU’LL LEAVE WITH:
• Your own Pocket Survival Snaring Kit
• Multiple handmade survival rabbit snares
• Timber’s practical tips for snare placement and success
• An understanding of several additional primitive trapping systems
• Real-world survival knowledge from someone who has actually depended on these skills for foodThis is your opportunity to learn survival trapping from a man who didn’t just practice these skills in his backyard—he relied on them for survival in one of the most unforgiving environments on earth.

You’ll leave with a finished piece of jewelry to cherish, along with a deeper appreciation for how God uses the small things of creation to teach big truths. Perfect for beginners, families, and anyone who loves creative expression rooted in nature and faith.
If you’re feeling worn down, distracted, or hungry for deeper connection with God, we invite you to join us.
Come step into the quiet.
Come encounter Jesus.
Come experience God in the wild.
From the moment…
you step onto the WILD GOD property, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of creation and surrounded by outdoor workshops and activities designed to help you unplug from life’s distractions and encounter God in a fresh way.
From main stage speakers and powerful worship to hands-on outdoor skills and kids’ adventures, WILD GOD is where forest meets faith.
For three days, set aside the noise of everyday life and rekindle the fire of faith that God has placed within you.
We can’t wait to see you June 5th!

Inspired Worship Painting with Sarah Stewart
Worship isn't limited to music—it can be expressed through every gift God has given us.
During this unique worship experience, Sarah Stewart uses her artistic talents as an act of praise, creating a live painting in real time as worship music fills the air. Guided by prayer, Scripture, and the movement of the Holy Spirit, Sarah transforms a blank canvas into a powerful visual expression of worship before the audience's eyes.
As the painting unfolds throughout the worship set, attendees will witness not only the creation of a beautiful piece of art, but also a living demonstration of what it looks like to surrender one's gifts and talents to the Lord. Many are amazed at what can emerge when creativity becomes an offering of praise.

Here, strangers become brothers and sisters, the weary find peace, and the weight of life is exchanged for the presence of Jesus. No judgment. No expectations. Just open arms, ready to meet you where you are.

WILD GOD Kid Safety & Supervision Guidelines
Saturday Afternoon Kids Workshops
Our goal is to ensure that every child in our care is safe, accounted for, and supervised at all times while parents enjoy their solitude time. These simple guidelines will help us achieve that.
Check-In / Check-Out
A parent or guardian must sign their child in at the start of the kids’ rotation.
Only the same parent/guardian who checked them in may check them out at the end.
No child leaves without a volunteer confirming the pickup adult.
Supervision
Maintain line-of-sight supervision at all times — no child should ever be alone.
At least two volunteers should be present in each workshop station or group activity area.
Kids move from station to station as a group, led by a volunteer, never on their own.
There will be a Porta-Potty at the Kids are for use by children at that location.
Boundaries
Kids must remain inside the designated kids’ activity area at all times, except for when escorted by 2 volunteers to the Fossil/Gemstone Dig Site.
Volunteers will clearly mark and communicate the boundaries (tape, cones, rope, or visual markers).
Bathroom trips: A volunteer will escort a group or pair of kids to the restroom and wait outside the door until all return. A Porta-Potty will be located at the Kids Area.
The Kids Ministry Leads are Megan Stewart (a First Grade Teacher at The Classical Academy in Fishers, IN and Creek’s Mom (the most awesome Mom and Grandma and a retired teacher and guidance counselor).
Headcounts
Do a headcount:
Before leaving a station & when arriving at the next stationAnytime a group returns from the bathroom
Keep a written list of names with check marks for each count.
Health & Emergencies
If a child is injured or becomes upset, notify the Kids Ministry Lead immediately.
For anything beyond basic first aid, contact parents & event staff, or call 911. We will have a first aid station on site.
All volunteers should know the location of the nearest first aid kit.
Interaction Standards
Physical contact should be limited to safety-related assistance (helping with tools, preventing falls, etc.) and side hugs or high-fives.
No rough play, teasing, or inappropriate jokes.
If a conflict between kids arises, address it calmly and involve the Kids Ministry Lead.
Kids Ministry Lead for Saturday Afternoon:
(Name & cell number will be provided on event day)
Our promise to parents:
Your child’s safety is our priority. They will always be supervised, accounted for, and engaged in fun, age-appropriate activities while you enjoy your time with the Lord
