Hidden Under Your Feet

Most people walk right past this plant and never give it a second thought. It’s one of the first wild flowers to pop up in Spring and you’ll find them right now.

It’s called Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica).

A small, delicate wildflower that shows up early in the spring, often scattered across the forest floor like little pink and white stars.

But what most people don’t realize is that beneath that tiny plant is a small edible tuber.

For generations, indigenous people and early settlers knew this. They would carefully dig these up as a source of food after a long winter when not much else was available.

It wasn’t flashy or big, but it was there. It is hidden, quiet, and reliable.

And it makes me think about how often God’s provision works the same way.

It’s not always big or obvious, but it’s always present right beneath our feet, if we’re paying attention.

It’s easy to overlook small things when we’re expecting big answers.

But sometimes the provision we’re asking for isn’t missing, it’s just unnoticed and overlooked.

Scripture says:

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:19

Maybe it’s not always in the way we expect, but it’s always in the way we need.

Makes you wonder…

What might already be around you that you’ve been stepping over?
