  • Eric Nowlen

Survival Instruction • Water • Fire • Faith Integration

Eric is a core instructor for the WILD GOD Survival Courses, leading hands-on instruction across multiple skill sets—including Water Filtration & Purification and Flint & Steel Fire Starting. In every lesson, Eric blends world-class survival instruction with meaningful faith parallels, helping participants see how physical skills reflect deeper spiritual truths.

When teaching water filtration, Eric draws clear connections between removing impurities from water and the necessity of filtering lies, distractions, and compromises from a believer’s life in order to be fully used by Christ. When teaching fire by flint and steel, he emphasizes the power of a single spark—how one small, obedient act can ignite lasting impact when placed in God’s hands. These lessons land not as metaphors alone, but as lived realities forged through practice, patience, and perseverance.

Eric is a wilderness survival instructor, homesteader, and the owner of Patriot Self Reliance, as well as co-owner of Naughty Dog Farm in West Virginia. Raised hunting, fishing, and camping in Mississippi, his love for the outdoors was shaped early and sharpened through years of military service, where he taught backpacking, orienteering, rappelling, and climbing to both youth and fellow soldiers.

An educator at heart, Eric now teaches survival, bushcraft, and homesteading skills across the country while stewarding his homestead and rescuing dogs. At WILD GOD, he brings a steady, grounded teaching style rooted in mentorship, hands-on learning, and wisdom earned through experience—helping participants grow not only in capability and confidence, but in their connection to the land and to the Creator who provides through it.

  • Drew Sharp

Flintknapping • Primitive Tools • Creation & Provision

Drew Sharp is one of North America’s most talented flint knappers and a featured instructor at the WILD GOD Survival Courses. In his special skills workshop, students will learn how to take a raw, unshaped piece of flint and transform it into a beautiful, functional arrowhead—revealing how God hardwired provision into even the rocks beneath our feet.

Raised in the small southern town of Union, Mississippi, Drew developed an early love for the outdoors and a deep admiration for primitive survival skills. His passion for flintknapping was ignited after being introduced to the work of Ryan Gill of Hunt Primitive, whose stone-age hunting, primitive builds, and knapping demonstrations inspired Drew to begin learning the craft himself. What started with a box of rock quickly became a lifelong pursuit of mastering this ancient and nearly lost art.

Flintknapping is the process of carefully striking and pressure-flaking stone to remove excess material, slowly revealing tools such as knives, arrowheads, and spear points hidden within. Drew teaches that this craft is more than skill—it is a picture of spiritual formation. Just as a knapper patiently chips away at stone to reveal its intended purpose, Christ works in the lives of believers, shaping what is formless into something useful for His Kingdom.

At WILD GOD, Drew brings a rare blend of technical excellence, patience, and perspective. His instruction invites students not only to learn an ancient survival skill, but to slow down, trust the process, and recognize how the Creator provides—even in the most unexpected places.

What students are saying…

I especially enjoyed the time for solitude. I have always felt a deep connection with the Lord in the wilderness, and I felt it during that time in a way I haven't felt nearly as much as I wish I did.

— Isaac, CO

The effort you showed to accommodate us and our needs in even the smallest capacity was incredible and so greatly appreciated... Thank you and your family again for such an incredible weekend! With everything going on in our lives, it was sorely needed and became a place of peace in our turbulent lives.

— Meghan N.

Thank you Creek and Sarah for a deeply moving weekend. I learned far more than expert survival skills. I was awakened to how God has already provided everything we need in Creation. I experienced fellowship that helped me grow in my faith and closer to God. The perfect balance of survival skills, fellowship, praise and worship and solitude was a life changing experience that I will carry forever. God Bless!

— Kathy, NC
